Wang See Fong, Lee Chye Ewe & Chee Cher Leong

Dear all,

Wishing all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2008. May the coming year gives us opportunies to meet up again with an even bigger group. Of course may all of us have greater achievements, health, wealth and happiness.

I was lucky enough to brave the flood(!!) in Kelantan to meet up with See Fong and Cher Leong on 19th December recently. I would not comment on how we look but let look at the photos!!

To See Fong and Cher Leong, it was certainly very nice to meet up with the two of you, exchanging old stories and updating on new ones. I hope our next meet up will not take too long.

Sorry to Eeow Khin as we missed the chance to meet up. Another time probably. To Kenneth, look like we have to be in Vietnam first to meet up, right?

All the best and stay in touch.

Lim Swee Tin

If you have missed him during the Gala Dinner or you have missed his various appearance on TV this is the most recent one taken from TV3. He was talking about Bahasa Malaysia.

A Matter of Perception

For those 270 over Krians who have just attended the Kuala Krai Gala Dinner 2007, they might go home with different feelings. Different people might value or appreciate the night differently. To me, it is all a matter of perception.

Some might feel that, there should be more over all interaction especially paying more attention to the master of ceremony. To me, as the master of ceremony or emcee for the evening, I feel the function was just alright. I am not offended either even though I need to use my loudest voice most of the time.

I for once will not go against the audience by forcing them to listen to me though it took me three times to get everyone to sit down initially. Everyone was just too excited to meet up with old classmates, schoolmates and old friends. The feelings and excitment are just uncontrolable.

If not because I was assigned to the emcee job, I would have done the same with my group of classmates whom I have not met for 28 years. If there is any complain I may make, then it must be I have too little time spent with my old classmates! Oh, yes, one more thing. I wished I had more time to enjoy the food too!!!

Therefore, to me it is perfectly alright for the crowd to behave the way they have been. To be able to get so many Krians from far and near to be in one room, to me is already a very big success. I am sure the organising committe and a lot more others have put in their very best efforts for the success.

So congratulations again to the organising committee and all those who have made the Kuala Krai Gala Dinner a real memorable one.

The torn ....

With extra efforts and coincident, 8 of us from Class of 79 met up on 22nd September 2007 at Subang. It was during the fasting month so we had a break fast session with Rosnah.

For me, it was my first time meeting up with my classmates whom I have not seen since I left school in 1979. I was really excited prior to meeting them and to confess, I had sleepless nights. Not that I was worried I might look old to them but because I was too excited.

When I saw Suat Chu outside the Subang Komuter station who was there to pick me up, I told myself, she did not change much. When we finally met up with the rest of the group, yes, all of us, did not change much. Ok, we have some wrinkles and some additional lines on our bellies.

I never knew meeting up old classmates is such ... a wonderful experience.

Why Me?

Many might not know how I was chosen to be the emcee for the Kuala Krai Gala Dinner 2007 and why of all people me?

I have left Kuala Krai since I completed my form five in SMSYP (Sekolah Menengah Sultan Yahya Petra, now Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sultan Yahya Petra). That was way back in 1979.

Just a year ago (2006) I was spotted through my blog at cikgulee.blogdrive.com or www.cikgulee.com. Then I was invited to join the Kuala Krai Net. I managed to catch up with Suat Chu and a few others. We tried to meet up but the timing wasn't right. When everyone gets busy, things slowly dies down.

Somewhere middle of this year, I was alerted by Suat Chu about the Kuala Krai Gala Dinner 2007. After knowing a few of my classmates would be there, I decided to register.

Meanwhile as I was sending my mom back to Kota Bharu in September and would stop by in KL I asked if we could have a mini reunion. The idea was well received. Suat Chu and Rosnah made the arrangement and finally we met, after 28 years. Those present were Suat Chu, Rosnah, Siew Choo, Swee Lian, Ming Na, Puay Tee and Sheow Chen. We had a good time updating each other and recalling old times.

Then one of the Organisers of KK Gala Dinner, Ponniah was looking for and emcee for the night. Suat Chu's name was mentioned. Suat Chu was clever enough to pass the ball to me by giving him a very good introduction about me.

So that was how I ended hosting the Gala Dinner for about 280 Krians and their families. I hope I did well to keep every entertained.

I might have flown in all the way from Tawau just to attend the Gala Dinner and back the following day, it was all worth it. Friends remain friends.

Krai Sokmo!!!

Meeting Up

It was really nice to meet up with all of you after so many years, except for some with whom we have met earlier. If not because of Suat Chu who alerted me on the Gala Dinner, I would not have the opportunity to be in the company of you all.

The feelings was really great to be among old friends again. I might not be able to recall so many things of the past but talking about old times surely helps me to recall those memories, be it sweet or bitter.

My apologies for not being able to spend more time chit chatting with you all due to the emcee job. I hope I have kept all of you, and the rest of the Kraians entertained. It was an honour for me to host such a function, to be with so many Krains after more than 28 years!!

To Suat Chu and the rest of the organising team, you all have done a wonderful job re-united so many of us from far and near.

Please keep in touch.
